A coalition of 12 media organisations has called for the re-opening of the five radio stations which were closed by the Government during last week’s city riots.
Two radio stations owned by the Central Broadcasting Service, Akaboozi Ku Bbiri, Radio Sapienta, and Ssuubi FM were closed and their operating licenses suspended.
The Broadcasting Council on Saturday halted the airing of a Radio Simba talk-show ‘Gasimbagane ne Bannamawulire’, WBS television programme ‘Kibaazo’ and arrested a Radio One journalist, Kalundi Serumaga, over statements he allegedly made while appearing as a panelist on Kibazo on Friday.
